Why we started
In November the clocks change and the sun goes down at five. For anyone who rides after work, that's the end of the season, unless you can be seen.
The lights out there either look like a costume or shout in neon. We wanted a kit that looks like real tack: night black, cognac leather tones, silver hardware, with the LEDs as the only bright colour.
Moonlight Gallop is an independent retailer. The lights are made by third-party manufacturers and we're not affiliated with any brand. We quote the real delivery time, 8 to 12 business days, because that's what it is.

You don't need to know the tack vocabulary. The full kit adjusts to fit your horse and comes with a 30-day warranty. The breast collar and tail strands recharge by USB. The leg bands run on replaceable CR2032 coin batteries, 60–80 hours. She straps it on, presses the button and rides.

What's in the full kit?
A light-up breast collar, a set of 4 leg bands and the tail strands, plus one USB charging cable for the collar and the tail. Batteries for the leg bands are not included: each band takes 2 CR2032 coin batteries, so 8 for a full set. Lithium coin batteries can't always ship by air, so we don't send them. You'll find CR2032s at most drugstores and supermarkets. The tail strands are only sold as part of the full kit.
How long do the lights last?
The breast collar and the tail strands recharge by USB, up to 60 hours per charge, according to the manufacturer. One cable is included, so you charge them one after the other. The leg bands run on replaceable CR2032 coin batteries that last 60 to 80 hours, according to the manufacturer. CR2032s are sold at most drugstores.
Will it fit my horse?
The breast collar adjusts to fit your horse. Each leg band is a 32 cm (12.6 in) strap, 2.5 cm (1 in) wide, that closes with velcro through a metal loop. Measure around your horse's leg where the band will sit, and leave a few centimeters for the velcro to overlap. If you ride a pony or a draft horse, email us at hello@moonlightgallop.com before you order. The tail strands are 100 cm (39 in) long and attach with a velcro sleeve and a D-ring.
Is it waterproof?
No. It handles a few drops, not rain. Keep it dry and store it indoors.
How do I use it?
Charge the collar and the tail, put 2 CR2032 batteries in each leg band, strap everything on and press the button: steady, fast flash or slow flash. Let your horse get used to the lights at a walk, in a calm place, before your first night ride.
Is it safe for my horse?
Introduce the lights gradually, check that nothing rubs or catches before every ride, and never leave them on an unattended horse. If your horse seems uncomfortable, take them off.
Will it keep me safe on the road?
It makes you more visible in low light. It doesn't replace reflective gear or your local road rules, and it can't guarantee that every driver will see you. Check your state's rules for riding at night.
How long does shipping take?
8 to 12 business days to the US, up to 13 in December. Your order may arrive in more than one package. For Christmas, order by December 4.

Can I return it?
We accept returns for manufacturing defects within 30 days of delivery. Email hello@moonlightgallop.com with your order number and a photo or short video of the problem. We'll look into it with you and replace the item or refund you, and we'll tell you whether we need it back. We don't accept returns for a change of mind, so check the fit details above before you order.
What is shipping protection?
An optional $7.99 add-on at checkout. If your package is marked delivered but stolen from your door, we send a new one or refund you. Packages lost in transit or damaged on the way are always replaced or refunded, whether you add it or not.
What does the 30-day warranty cover?
Any manufacturing defect on any piece of the kit for 30 days after delivery: LEDs that don't light, a button that doesn't work, a collar or tail that won't charge. It doesn't cover water damage, chewing, falls, normal wear, or coin batteries that run out.
